My current day job is to do "computer stuff" for a small, Christian university, near Philadelphia, PA -- this website is my 'side hustle', for now. My title with my current employer is, Web Application Administrator. If it is a web site that our university community uses, I am responsible for making sure it is up and running.
I have been doing this "web stuff" since late 2015. I am proficient at a multitude of aspects related to building and securely running web servers, including (but not limited to):
- Registering domains
- Configuring DNS services
- Installing SSL (security) certificates
- Building Windows and Linux servers to run a web server (service) on
- Managing the web server services, including
- Apache on Linux
- NGINX on Linux
- Ubuntu web server (which is like Apache on Linux, but slightly different)
- Apache Tomcat (usually used on a Windows Server)
- IIS (native web server for Windows Server)
- Installing and configuring Content Management Systems (CMSs), including:
- Drupal 8 and 9
- WordPress
- Sharepoint (seriously, please don't)
- I've even dabbled with a SquareSpace instance, once
I am also proficient at a couple "web development" tasks as well, including (but not limited to):
- Style-coding -- CSS, a little Javascript, etc. (BTW, this is pretty much my FAVORITE thing to do in the arena of "web stuff".)
- Theme-building (for Drupal 8) -- In fact, the website you are looking at right now is using a customized theme I built based on the "Bartik" theme that ships with Drupal 8 projects.
- PHP Re-coding -- I have now updated 2 home-grown applications used by my employer which were originally developed using now-obsolete versions of PHP. Bringing both applications into the 21st century by making them compatible with PHP v7.3.
- Full-Stack Developer -- I have built a web app called the Net Price Calculator, for my current employer, which I built with the Codeigniter v3 [PHP] framework. Being a PHP program, the stack is pretty short, but I developed everything associated with this web app from the ground up -- database tables, a [rudimentary] admin UI, and the front-end styling.
Web Development is where I would like to continue to grow my skill-set, which is why I have launched this website. I would love it if I could generate enough "freelance" work (and revenue) to allow me to become "self-employed"; but, for now, this is really just a side gig. With my current skill-set, I can definitely help you setup a website -- from creating a new URL to having a basic CMS of your choice available for you to use at your new URL.
Sorry for all the words and little to no images. Please check out the rest of this site, including my 'Partnerships page', if you think you can help me make this site look better.
